Shout out to first to Tatyana for telling me to shout out to John Tesh! I will never forget the day I ran into the man. I was at Universal City Walk with my family. He was with his wife, Connie Sellecca, an actress. Mr. Tesh and Ms. Sellecca crossed my path on their way into the movie theater. Ms. Sellecca stared at me as she walked by. She gave me that “Don’t you know who I am?” death stare that sadly most celebrities do far too often. Considering I was no more than 12, and while yes, I knew who she was, I didn’t get intimidated or feel the need to ask for an autograph. Instead I thought, “Is this woman possessed? Is she hungry? Leave me alone!”
And then I looked up at the ever so tall and poised Mr. John Tesh who didn’t even acknowledge my existence. “Now that’s a stand up celebrity,” I thought to myself.
Some of you know him from his days as co-host of Entertainment Tonight, but what many of you may not know is this: John Tesh is a gifted musician whose score pumped so many of us up for the NBA on NBC.

Why do I applaud John Tesh? Because he does what he loves and doesn’t give a damn how many people laugh at him for his Lurch-like stature and angelic tunes. He continues to consistently draw thousands to his shows by staying true to himself and his craft, and he’s parlayed that into books, a radio show and a website full of inspirational messages.
We can all learn something from John Tesh.
